A Poem for Today

I started writing poetry in middle school, during a brief angsty phase that did not stick, but my poem writing stayed with me. Most of my poetry is hidden away on my computer and in a secret Tumblr account of mine. I probably write poetry as often as I write for this blog, but it is far more personal, so I choose not to publish it.

This semester, I am taking Poetry as a Genres course for my English major. On the very first day of class, we wrote a poem by combining random words in repetitious phrases. I have since edited my poem, but only slightly. For this week's blog, I simply wanted to share it with you, the first of my self-published poems.
